Vic Tamati was this year awarded a Member of New Zealand’s Order of Merit for his services to the prevention of domestic violence. Vic has been working for many years in the field of domestic violence prevention and is currently one of the faces of the It’s Not OK Campaign.
After founding Safe Man Safe family 10 years ago, he has developed an effective peer-led programme that, uniquely, uses ex-perpetrators to mentor and lead violent offenders.
Safe Man Safe Family has a network of 60 ‘Safe Men’ around the country.
The Order of Merit was established “for those persons who in any field of endeavour, have rendered meritorious service to the Crown and nation or who have become distinguished by their eminence, talents, contributions or other merits.”
