Kia ora everyone. My name is Hone Kewa Pewhairangi and I am a peer support kaimahi in Turanga nui a Kiwa. The goal for my mahi is to encourage whānau to think aspirationally for themselves and their whānau. How I encourage whānau towards this is by walking alongside them and offering support when engaging with services, agencies and organisations, while prioritising the needs and voice of the whānau so that they receive the support that they need.
I am also a believer in the capacity for Kaupapa Māori to be a healing tool for our tane and whānau. I have maintained working relationships with Māori businesses, education spaces and Iwi organisations from which I can pathway whānau to the appropriate support structures.
Background: Whanāu Ora support, Housing, Wrap Around support, System engagement, Whangaia Nga Pa Harakeke support, Pathway to outside support.
